Kopra Dada- Mardi Himal
Trip Overview
The Khopra Danda – Mardi Himal Trek is a unique combination of two of the Annapurna region’s most rewarding and less crowded trekking routes. This itinerary blends the remote and peaceful Khopra Ridge with the scenic forested trails of Mardi Himal, creating a diverse and immersive Himalayan experience.
The journey begins from Pokhara, gradually ascending through traditional villages, terraced farmlands, and dense rhododendron forests. The trail to Khopra Danda offers a quieter alternative to Ghorepani, with dramatic ridge walking and breathtaking views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges.
From Khopra, trekkers have the option to visit the sacred Khayer Lake, a high-altitude pilgrimage site. The route then transitions toward the Mardi Himal trail, passing through alpine forests and ridgelines with constant views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).
The trek concludes after reaching Mardi Himal Base Camp, offering close-up mountain scenery before descending back to Pokhara.
Best Seasons to Travel
Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) are ideal for clear skies, blooming forests, and stable weather.
Notes to Travelers
This trek is moderately challenging and suitable for trekkers with good fitness levels. The combination of remote trails and ridge walking requires endurance.
Accommodation includes teahouses and community lodges along the route. Weather can change rapidly at higher elevations, especially near Khopra Ridge and Mardi Himal Base Camp.
